Lymphedema

Lymphedema is the abnormal accumulation of protein-rich lymphatic fluid that causes swelling (edema) primarily in legs or arms, but that can affect any part of the body. It occurs when the normal drainage pattern of the lymphatic vessels is compromised. Lymphedema may be inherited or may be the result of surgery or trauma.

There is no surgical cure for lymphedema, however we do have many methods of treatment to manage this condition.  These forms of treatment involve compression of the legs to help remove the fluid in the legs that accumulates because of damage or diseased lymphatic vessels or lymph nodes.
